Biography

Ruhee Maknojia is a painter, animator, and installation artist based in Houston, Texas. Her work draws on eclectic intersections of literary traditions by using patterns as cultural and historical palimpsest. She received her M.F.A. in Visual Arts from Columbia University in 2019 and attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2024. In the spring of 2024, she served as the Artist-in-Residence at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where she taught advanced painting and graduate seminar classes.

Maknojia’s work has been exhibited in various institutions and galleries including the Lenfest Center for the Arts in New York City, Rice University Moody Center for the Arts, LeRoy Neiman Center for the Arts in New York City, Asia Society Texas, and Anya Tish Gallery in Houston, Texas.
